The Wound Center

Hyperbaric ChamberWe are completely dedicated to the treatment of chronic wounds.  If you have a wound or skin sore that isn't healing, we would love to develop a personalized treatment plan for you.

Southeast Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds, which can include problem sores, skin ulcers and wounds that have not improved with routine treatments.  A doctor’s referral is not needed to receive treatment at Southeast Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine, so if you are dealing with a non-healing wound, we welcome your call to set up an appointment.

At your first visit, you will be asked for your medical history, which will contain all of your current medications and any recent illnesses, injuries or surgeries.  Our wound specialist will review this information and evaluate your wound.  We may need to do some further testing to check for infection or problems with your circulation that may be interfering with your body’s natural ability to heal.

Our wound care physicians will use this information to put together a personalized treatment plan.  We’ll also keep your primary physician in the loop, so you can rest easy knowing that no aspect of your care is being overlooked.

Our goal at Southeast Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine is to provide state-of-the-art and cost-effective healing treatment appropriate for your needs.  Healing your wound will require regular visits to our wound care center and careful attention given to the instructions of your care, so we need your help and cooperation.  Together, we can get you back to feeling like yourself again.

Treatment Program Development:

Patients with chronic wounds often have other underlying, serious health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and circulation disorders that inhibit the natural healing process. Problem wounds can also be caused by abnormal pressure on skin over bony areas, such as is often the case in patients who are elderly, malnourished, or bedridden.

Because of the many medical conditions that can contribute to such wounds, the Southeast Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine staff will carefully assess you and put together a treatment plan that will maximize your healing based on your special needs, working closely with a team of multidisciplinary specialists, as well as your personal doctor.

As part of your treatment program, you will be taught how to care for your wounds at home and advised of nutrition and exercises that might aid the healing process and prevent future wounds. If you have wounds on your feet, you will be shown how to protect your feet and walk correctly. You may also be prescribed special shoes, which will protect your feet and relieve pressure.
